Gotta Have Faith

I’ve been contemplating a lot recently on faith. The believing without seeing. The trusting without the evidence. The belief that despite heartache, loss, disappointment and rejection, we believe in God’s plan for our lives. We appreciate and admit his sovereignty over our lives. We can use this faith in the battle in our own minds. Those thoughts we can’t help but have when we see the world around us and think “How can it get any worse?” Those thoughts are coming from the enemy are are trying to destroy our relationship with God.

Instead, we can say “God I trust You. I believe in Your plan for me, knowing it is for good and not for harm. I don’t need to understand. I submit to you. My life is in Your hands!” This simple prayer points our minds and hearts to God, professing our belief in Him. It casts out doubt. It releases fear. Those things aren’t in control. God is. When we speak words over our lives, we are inviting God in. We’re practicing faith.

We can do this in good times and bad. Many times we run to God when we’re suffering or struggling. But we can also practice faith in praising God, when the we’re blessed. “Thank You God for Your support and love. Thank You for Your favor and blessings. Thank You for instilling life into me. You are my rock and fortress.” We can be grateful for our good times and remind ourselves of God’s promise, that He will provide despite the circumstances. I struggle so much with this. I forget to praise God and only seek Him when I’m scared, anxious, angry, or hurt. Even then, I let my worries get the best of me, bringing me into a state of disbelief. I forget that God is in control, not my circumstances. I’m getting better but I still have much work to do.

So act with faith by speaking it into your life. Believe in the Good News. Believe in what God has in store for you. It’s all for your good. (Jer 26:11)
