Everything will be fine for me. Speak these words each day, every day. I am finding more and more the power of words and positive thinking. Admittedly, I have been a negative person for a long time. Like so many, I find it easier to be negative, focus on what’s wrong, what I don’t have, who I am not, etc. It is easier to be negative than positive. But here’s the kicker, it saps your energy. So the more negative you are, the less energy you have to try to be positive. It becomes a cycle of energy depleting negativity. How do we break the cycle? By the power of the spoken word.
In a lecture series I followed, I had heard the discussion about the Word as God, a powerful force that we have to some capacity because we are made in the image of God. So the same Word that created the universe is in us. We have the most minute capability to speak things into existence because God gave us this gift. It has been said, so a man think, there he is, which is from Proverbs. Put another way, from Ralph Waldo Emerson, “A man becomes what he thinks about, all day long.” For the most part, words start as thoughts, then actually become words in the real sense; spoken. So what we think about is what we say. If we think negative, we become negative, because it is spoken into reality. What a powerful notion. It is good the opposite is true! If we think positive, speak positive, we become positive.
Don’t believe it? Try this. Try speaking aloud, “I am strong.” Close your eyes. Repeat this ten times, growing louder with each repetition. Breathe in before each, deep, speak, then exhale. In closing your eyes, choose images, sounds, dreams of strength. By the 10th repetition, you should be feeling a warmness, a heat generating in your belly. But more importantly, a new idea in your mind. I AM STRONG. How do you feel? What emotions would you use to describe these moments, as you come down off your elevated state? This is a simple quick meditation but illustrates the power of the spoken word. Yes, we added some extra reinforcement with breathing and imagery, but why not? Why not use all you’ve got to generate positive emotion?
Thing is, it is easier in the short run to be negative, but detrimental. In the long run, it is easier to be positive. To build the habit of positive thinking and reinforcing word, which created a cycle in the RIGHT direction. To speak and believe, everything will be fine for me. Let’s face it, there will be plenty of times it won’t be. Plenty of opportunities to justify the negative. Admit defeat. Give in. But don’t; it’s a trap. Believe that despite your circumstances, things will be fine for you. I am struggling much in this area so like all things, I continue to pray for you. Everything will be fine for me.
