Consistent Work

After taking some time off, I’m happy to report being back in the driver’s seat. Well, the passenger seat. God is in the driver’s seat but sometimes I still try to grab the wheel or control the pedals. I took time to reflect, pray, meditate, pray some more, practice acceptance, ask for grace. I could go on, but you get the idea. I took a look under the hood in an attempt to stop being distracted by all the noise, the comparison to others, the complaining, the self pity, the questions. I wanted to focus on me. And I didn’t feel guilty about it.

The fact is, we don’t have to be perfect. I’ve said it before but many of these themes and ideas I share and discuss in the blog need repeating. Maybe not for you, but for me. It helps to write these things out; it’s one of the reasons I started this blog. I thought, “If I’m having these thoughts, these challenges, these fears, chances are someone else is.” It helps me to organize things and make sense of them and in doing so I and you, the reader, win. That’s what this whole idea is about. Building ourselves and each other up, brick by brick. Not focusing on what we aren’t, don’t have, didn’t accomplish, etc. It’s about who we are and who we can become. it’s about consistent work.

In the coming weeks, I am focusing on improving this website. Enough of the excuses; it’s important enough to take the time, even if it’s one thing here and there. I want to improve this project for the betterment of whoever it comes across. My hope is that you are inspired to do the same as I am; seeking the balance of improvement and acceptance. Asking for strength to push and grace to be content. Wisdom in sorting out problems and leaving well enough alone. Doing what you can and leaving the rest up to God. But most importantly, keeping your eyes on the prize, no matter the circumstances. That is practicing consistent work.

I continue to pray for you and yours in whatever journey you are on. This is not easy, living. It is all hard. Life can be painful suffering. If we haven’t experienced it yet, we will. Just keep the faith. Keep working. Keep striving to be what God is calling you to. Just keep going. Brick by brick. Keep going. God is with you. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Is 40:10)
