Cast Your Cares on Him, Because He Cares for You

I’m currently engulfed in a problem at work. It’s a predicament where I feel caught between a rock and a hard place. I’ve thought about options, who to talk to and ask for advice and perspective, set aside time to contemplate the situation and worst case scenarios, etc. It’s woke me up early in the morning and made me restless when laying down at the end of the day. Sound familiar?

We all have woes, problems, complaints, pains and reasons to be anxious. Although, I recently heard a small tip for dealing with these situations and thoughts when they first appear; is it a tragedy or an inconvenience. Most of the time, unless it’s catastrophic, it’s the latter. We place so much emphasis on the what if’s and the shoulds we forget about the severity of the situation, which is usually not the mountain we’re making it out to be. So instead of seeking counsel from peers and family or friends, like I normally would, I prayed. I prayed for guidance in my thoughts words and actions. I prayed for grace and intercession from the Holy Spirit for my problem at work. From Joel Olsteen, “Lord, I know You’re bigger than this problem. I know You’re still on the throne. I know You’ll continue to supply all of my needs.” It’s a simple prayer that offers it up to God.

In a nutshell, I’m caught between the updated policies at work and my values. I’m being asked to see patients in a manner that is a disservice to them since it forces a lack of attention to them and not spending enough time to delve into the problem. I take issue with this because, while I understand the constraints of running a business in this current medical system, it doesn’t permit poor care. I have spoken with my leader about similar issues and it seems to fall on deaf ears. All in all, the workplace is somewhat of a mess but I’m not about to change how I practice to a substandard level to meet business outcomes. It makes me think of a quote from Jim Rohn. “Don’t sell out. Don’t go for something that’s going to cost you your virtues or cost you your values.”

So what will I do? Who knows but God. I’ll get the answer when I need it. But until then I’m going to keep praying and giving it to God. “Lord, I can’t do this on my own. I need You. I don’t know what to do or what direction to go. But I know You will help me. I know You’ve got the answer. I’m not worried because I know You love me and will deliver me from my enemies.” So go ahead and cast your cares on Him.
